After flying in the day before, and taking it easy for the late evening and afternoon with the Normans, we ventured into town and the surrounding area so Alyssa could show off some of her old haunts.

We spent the earlier part of the day exploring Eskilstuna, seeing the shopping street, her school St. Eskils, and her favorite cafe.  Then, we headed off to the area of Sunbyholm to see a famous runic carving (Sigurdsristningen), Sunbyholm "castle" where she had her prom ("slott" means castle but can also refer to a large mansion), and the marina located there.  On our way to Torshälla, the small town just near her host family's homestead, we drove through some of the fields and forests of Södermanland province.  In the early evening, we wandered around Torshälla and took a few more pictures.

The weather all day was fantastic, warm and breezy, with bright blue skies.  It was a quintessentially Swedish summer day.
