We got into Reykjavik, after a cool bus-ride through a rocky waste. It was sunny, cool and fairly surreal.
The place where we stayed was really in the dowtown (which was really small and unimpressive). The city itself was really fairly new - most everything being 60's and onwards, but it was really pretty and the weather was fantastic.
After having coffee and seeing around the corner of the city where we were staying, we waited for the one tour bus to pick us up to go to the Blue Lagoon. It never came.
So I called and called, as did the guy who owned the guest apartments where we stayed. The bus driver apparently "missed" picking us up - and other people. So they wanted to refund us for the trip on the last day (fine) and would pick us up for the next run (e.g. we will have a shorter time at the Lagoon).
We go to the Lagoon and boy was it awesome. We rented towels and robes, washed up, then donned our swimsuits and got outside. The water ranged anywhere from a very warm bath to almost uncomfortably hot, depending on how far you were from the flume where they pumped in the water (they regulate it).
We did the whole Blue Lagoon thing, with the rubbing of the mud and the hanging out in the steam. It did make us feel better (at least for as long as we were there).
We returned in the evening and Alyssa holed up and got some rest. I went out for something quick and easy (like pizza) to take back and to see if I can find some meds. I walked several miles along the sprawl of the city (too bad I didn't bring the camera) and picked up both pizza and cough medicine, nasal stray, and more cough drops. I traveled about four miles all tolled, since there was only one drug store open that late. Also, since I was still sick too, I opted to take a taxi back to where we were staying.
