Our first day in Stockholm, Sweden's capital, was fantastic, although the weather wasn't as beautiful as the day before.  In the late afternoon, bright blue skies made their appearance again. After Magnus, Alyssa's host father, drove us in the morning and dropped us off to stay at Per’s (her host brother's) apartment, we made our way into the heart of the city and wandered around.  Per and his girlfriend, Sara, were on vacation in Greece that week and kindly obliged us with the use of their home.

We focused much of our day on the numerous museums within the royal palace. We completely and randomly lucked out by stumbling out to the courtyard right before the changing of the guard.

We then took a look in Stor Kyrka and took pictures and wanted around the island of Gamla Stan (“Old Town”).

In the early evening, we met up with drinks with Birgit, who was the mother in her “contact family” when she was here at the University of Stockholm during college.

In the evening [unpictured], we went out with Mirjam and her boyfriend, Henrik.  (Unfortunately, we were having so much fun we didn't think to snap a few photos.)  We went to some really cool bar and talked with some really cool people. Even though I, Keith, was the dumb American who knew no Swedish, they were really interested in talking to me and hearing about our plans.
